Today was a great day of ministry. We went and prayer walked in the Waipahu and passed out flyers for the upcoming Block party and VBS that will be held in the local church. Meeting the residents and children of Waipahu opened my eyes to the great need that this community has for Jesus. After prayer walking we returned to the church to prepare for the evening worship service. During this time, I had the opportunity to talk to the pastor’s father about the ministry and the needs of the community. Several times throughout the evening I heard about how the Chuukese children often struggle to finish school often quitting at a very young age. I also learned that there are 75 Southern Baptist Churches on Oahu and yet only 0.5% of the population is being reached with the good news of Jesus. There is a great need in Hawaii for the gospel to be shared. He also shared with me that the Chuukese ministry is funded or partially funded by the Annie Armstrong offering. Hearing this, I realized what a blessing it is to be able to see how mission offerings are being put to use on the mission field. Please be in prayer for our Backyard Bible that is starting on Monday at the Sunflower Projects. Love to all!
