What Does a Girl Have to do for an Ear of Corn?

What does a girl have to do for an ear of corn? Normally, the answer would be go to the grocery store and buy a piece? However, I am not talking about any corn…. I’m talking about Uncle Woody’s BBQ corn. (I like to refer to him as the corn man.) Now, I am slightly obsessive about the corn man’s corn. I talked about the corn man for an entire year, and while not the main reason why I was excited to return to Hawaii…paying a visit to the corn man definitely made the top 10 reasons come back to Hawaii.
Now that you have the background knowledge of how much I LOVE this corn, you will have a better understanding of the disappointment I experienced when not once but twice I have been denied the sweet, tangy taste of Uncle Woody’s corn.   First, Uncle Woody changed locations, and Darla had not been able to find him. Thankfully, she is very smart and thought to look online to see if he had a website. Sure enough he did!
“Yes!! Taste bud satisfaction is coming soon,” I thought to myself. I even texted my mom Saturday Forget about seeing Hawaii… we found where the corn man set up business.  So Darla and I set off with no other set plans other than to find the corn man in Kahuku.  After about an hour and a half of traveling, we arrived, high with anticipation, only to be immediately let down… they were closed. L  Staying positive, I remembered we would be out that way (somewhat close) on Wednesday (4th of July ) for our ATV tour. We could go early and stop and get some corn.  Yesterday, we set out first for corn and than for our ATV tour of the Ranch.  Well traffic was terrible along the North Shore, and we passed the Corn Man at 2:47.  Notice I said passed…we were supposed to arrive for our tour at 3:00. There was no way we would make both the corn and the tour. Since we would still be charged for the tour whether we arrived or not, we thought it would be best to skip the corn and make the tour.  Bad news: I have still yet to eat a piece of Uncle Woody’s corn this summer. Good news: The tour was amazing. It was really cool to experience God’s creation up close and personal.  Afterwards, we went to dinner at Pastor Harlan’s and Auntie Dana’s house. Guess what, she served corn…. and it was delicious!

Below are pictures of yesterday and Backyard Bible Club on Tuesday. Today, is Backyard Bible Club, Discipleship time, and a worship service. Pray that God will open the eyes and hearts of these kids and give us a deep desire to know Him.

Much love to all!  Aitog Ngonuk!
